Woodchat at Soar, Devon 18th November 2006

This bird was showing when I got there and for a further 10 minutes when it moved off to the bottom of the field. After that it dissappeared and I never saw it again despite waiting for two and a half hours.
I was talking to the land owner on site who happens to be a birder. He has managed the fields to attract the birds and it was certainly working. There were big numbers of skylarks plus many yellowhammers and mipits around. Interestingly I learned that the fields are used for producing bird seed.
