Come late summer/early autumn we are left with just two species of dragonfly I am told ; the common darter and the migrant hawker. These large dragonflies can often be seen patroling up and down sheltered pathways where with some patience they can be seen to land. As its name suggests it is in fact a migrant from the continent but is now also an established breeder and still spreading northwards. Taken with a Canon S3 IS.
