Long-billed Murrelet. Dawlish, 11th November 2006

It was a great relief to hear that the Long-billed Murrelet was still around at Dawlish after its correct identification. The bird was initially identified as a Little Auk although I'm not sure which bit of the bird was likened to a Little Auk. Initially upon my arrival the bird was distant but came in close for some good views. For a comparison I have added 3 of the same shots below. One has been edited, one resized and sharpenened and the other a resized and sharpened JPEG. The RAW format produces a 15MB file whereas the fine JPEG is only 2MB. The RAW file does capture a lot more detail of the bird and my thanks goes to James Packer for convincing me to give it a try.
