Black Tern Weston Sewage Works 23rd August 2008

I watched this Black Tern fly in from the river Axe late morning. It attempted to fly off south a couple of times but ended up returning and giving good views as it flew past on its many sweeps over the UV pools. This bird is a moulting adult with some retained summer plumage on the breast. The underparts would be clean underneath in a juvenile which would also show brown on the mantle.
