Wildlife of Fuerteventura 8th to 18th November 2023


Ten days holiday recording wildlife in the area of the Robinsons Esquinzo Playa resort in the south of the Island.

Here are some of the highlights of the trip:

Hoopoe
Hoopoe - confiding birds seen regularly around the resort

Egyptian Bollworm
Egyptian Bollworm - attracted regularly to LED light

Chroantha ornatula
Chroantha ornatula seen once on the resort.

Four-striped Digger Bee
Four-striped Digger Bee fairly common around flowering plants.

Barbary Ground Squirrel
Barbary Ground Squirrel - A favourite with tourists, will take food from your hand.

Hadada Ibis
Hadada Ibis around the resort and at Morro Jable

Monk Parakeet
Monk Parakeet - at Morro Jable

Aproaerema polychromella
African Sober (Aproaerema polychromella) fairly common to LED light on the resort.

North African Hedgehog
North African Hedgehog - seen once on the resort.

Desert Locust
Desert Locust - found nearby whilst looking for Sandgrouse.

Spectacled Warbler
Spectacled Warbler - found in surrounding scrub area often picked up by call.

Crimson Speckled
Crimson Speckled - one attracted to LED light.
